Okay so we may have been a little dramatic in the title, but it isn’t hard to figure out the basics of UX. Internalizing and practicing solid approaches to good user design takes a little longer but if you want to get the 45 minute version, check out this slick presentation Sara Summers put together on becoming a UX designer in just 45 minutes.

Sara does an effective job reducing user experience (UX) to the simple idea of “the practice of design that is on behalf of the user in order to bring about purposeful meaning or change.” Too often designers are hampered by technology constraints and what they think users will need to accomplish their tasks, and not enough time is spent thinking about making experiences meaningful, delightful, engaging, and all of those other trendy but meaningful adjectives.

Great job Sara and hope that you find it useful!
