IdentityMine is now a Microsoft Surface Premier Partner

Microsoft has announced their Surface v2 Premier Partners, and IdentityMine was on the list! Microsoft has strict criteria to become a Premier Partner, and IdentityMine ranks in the top 10% of all Microsoft Partners. We’re proud of the designation, and are excited to be a part of the Surface team.

Since IdentityMine started in 2001, we have been at the forefront of emerging Microsoft technology, and continue to develop and push the envelope on what can be done in Silverlight and WPF. When the Surface 1 debuted in 2007, IdentityMine was all over it; we even developed applications for Bill Gates during his 2008 keynote speech at CES. We’ve since gone on to develop Surface applications for the New Orleans Saints during their championship year, and recently New Balance to promote a new shoe during the 2011 Boston Marathon.   We’ve also developed several applications for retail, hospitality along the way. Take a look at the SolidWorks eDrawing application we developed to be demonstrated at the SolidWorks World International User Conference & Exposition. IdentityMine, Inc. Recognized as Microsoft Surface Premier Partner

Seattle, WA – July 14, 2011 – IdentityMine, an emerging leader in application and interface development for rich digital interactive user experiences using Natural User interface (NUI), announced that it has been recognized by Microsoft as Microsoft Surface Premier Partner.

Microsoft has strict criteria to become a Premier Partner, and IdentityMine ranks in the top 10% of all Microsoft Partners.

IdentityMine has been experimenting with User Experience (UX) on Surface 2.0 – specifically ways that users might interact with a software application NUI in a retail, hospitality, or sports/entertainment setting. The firm designs and develops touch-based interactions that are easy to use, have a short learning curve, and allow users to quickly navigate relatively complex UI.

IdentityMine first started working with Surface technology in 2007 when the original prototype was first available and has worked hand-in-hand with Microsoft’s Surface team to envision not just exceptional UX for Surface, but industry applications that are best suited to unique Surface features. In fact, IdentityMine developed the application used During Bill Gates’ Keynote speech at the 2008 conference when Surface was initially unveiled to the public

IdentityMine has developed Surface applications for Fortune 500 and globally recognized brands including the Microsoft, New Balance, and New Orleans Saints.

“We believe that the days of point and click are nearly over and the future of touch-based NUI is very bright,” said IdentityMine’s Director of UX Technology, Jobi Joy. “IdentityMine employs a multi-pronged philosophy – engage, interact, experience – to every Surface 2.0 application created.”

While both Surface and Surface 2.0 share the same touch-based concept, there are also critical differences. The most compelling differences in the platform are the size, weight, and the cost of the Surface 2.0 compared to the Surface. The updates allow the Surface 2.0 to be wall mounted and more deployable in hospitality and retail ecosystems.

Surface 2 SDK coming next week!

Lots of great Surface news!

IdentityMine has been working with Surface technology since it first hit the airwaves, and we’re huge fans of the technology. As lovers of Natural User Interface (NUI) our team of UX experts and software application developers  are excited about the potential for Surface 2.0 – it’s lighter, more affordable, and more intelligent than its predecessor.

We’ve already started converting our Surface 1.0 experiences to work with Surface 2.0, but there are more new Surface experiences on the way. Our clients in the retail, hospitality, and entertainment industries have been craving a new level of customer interaction, and Surface 2.0 proving to satisfy appetites to a degree that Surface 1.0 struggled to achieve.

Read Microsoft’s blog post about the Surface 2.0 release here.

The entire MSDN documentation for Surface 2.0 is now live as well. It’s well worth a read!

New Balance Leverages IdentityMine NUI Expertise to Create a Microsoft Surface Experience at the Boston Marathon

IdentityMine worked with New Balance’s Digital Agency of Record, Almighty, to create a fun and engaging NUI interaction for Boston Marathon Expo visitors

New Balance took advantage their dominating presence at the 115th running of the Boston Marathon by showcasing an exciting new product with an interactive touch application developed by IdentityMine in partnership with Almighty. The application was built for Microsoft Surface using WPF.

The application featured a variety of engaging content surrounding the marathon, new product and advice on improving a runner’s form. Users were able to get an inside look into the development of New Balance product, get a local’s view into the Boston Marathon race, learn how to improve their running form and experience the “Let’s Make Excellent Happen” marketing campaign first hand; content also included interviews, images, videos, race-day details, spectator tips, local information, and in-depth runner tips.

“We wanted to create a unique branded experience that invites people to interact and play,” said Javier Roca, IdentityMine’s Creative Director.  In just three days our expert UX designers team, were able to deploy our methodology to get familiarized with the target users and the brand. We then developed user flows and detailed design specifications that allowed us to deliver an innovative, usable solution that help build strong relationships between potential customers and New Balance.

Erik Pelletier, VP Digital Engagement at Almighty, adds, “The Surface was positioned next to a try-on wall of the 890, New Balance’s lightest-in-class neutral cushioning shoe. We were thrilled to see how many people tried on the shoes after interacting with 890 Surface content, which included behind the scenes insight into the product’s design and development and lighthearted comparisons of the shoe’s weight to everyday objects.”

Pelletier adds, “IdentityMine has proven to be a quick and agile partner. They did an exceptional job taking our content and helping us translate that into a very useful and tactile experience for our users using the Surface table.”

IdentityMine was pleased to be a part of the New Balance “Let’s Make Excellent Happen” campaign, which aims to motivate runners to reach new levels of personal performance.

IdentityMine’s Flashcards.show Application Easily Updated by @yochayk

On the eve of the Windows 7 release, IdentityMine developed a Memory-like flashcard application for Microsoft using WPF.  This multi-touch experience featured three different game-play  modes, as well as an admin tool with the option for users to personalize the application with custom photos and text. The game allowed users to make a flashcard deck for any topic that they wished.  The project was a fun and simple expression of the kinds of software that could be developed using WPF for Windows 7.

We were excited to recently learn that our friends on the Windows team, Yochay Kiriaty and Arik Poznanski, have updated the game and released Version 2, which enables seamless and easy sharing of decks among users across different computers via the cloud using a Silverlight application. The Silverlight application dynamically downloads the shared deck and displays it just as it would be displayed on the WPF application.
